Ameresco Sunel Energy SA Will Build a 560 MWp Enipeas Solar Project in Greece for Lightsource bp
/LONDON, July 26, 2024, 10:00 BST, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCHTM/ Ameresco Sunel Energy SA has announced its recently signed agreement to construct Lightsource bp's giant 560 MWp Enipeas solar project in Greece. This flagship project, one of the largest solar assets in Europe, is a testament to the joint venture's commitment to advancing the Greek solar energy sector. Its sheer scale and ambition will impress and inspire everyone involved in Greece's renewable energy sector.
Lightsource bp, a global leader in the development, investment, and management of solar energy projects, brings its unparalleled expertise to the Enipeas project. With a proven track record and an installed capacity of over 9.5 GW of solar projects across 19 markets, Lightsource bp is well-equipped to ensure the success of this landmark project.
The Enipeas project is strategically located in the regions of Larissa and Fthiotida. With a projected completion within 18 to 24 months, the project will feature two clusters: Skopia, a 400 MWp southern cluster, and Kalithea, a 160 MWp northern cluster. Ameresco Sunel Energy SA, a key player in the project, will be responsible for installing almost 970,000 photovoltaic modules at the site. Upon completion, the project will generate 0.90 TWh of electricity annually, enough to cover the electricity consumption of 225,000 households and reduce CO2 emissions by 379 kt per year.
"The 560 MWp Enipeas project contributes substantially to create a more sustainable future for Greece as it will provide affordable, secure, and cleaner energy and will support the country's decarbonization goals and energy independence. We are excited to partner with Ameresco Sunel Energy SA on Enipeas, one of the largest clean energy projects of its kind in Europe", said Natalia Paraskevopoulou, Lightsource bp Head of Country for Greece. "
Greek solar photovoltaic market more than doubled its cumulative installed capacity between 2020 and 2023 and exceeded 7 GW at the end of 2023.
