Enery Launched into Commercial Operation its Largest Solar PV Power Plant in Tsenovo, Bulgaria, with an Installed Capacity of 113 MWp
/TSENOVO, BULGARIA, October 15, 2024, 9:30 CEST, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCHTM/ Enery, a leading renewable energy solutions provider, announces the official opening of its largest solar power plant in Tsenovo Municipality, North Bulgaria. The Tsenovo Solar Plant expands the company’s portfolio with an additional 113 MWp (80 MWac), contributing to the region’s decarbonization. Located across several sites, the solar park spans over 140 hectares of land. The facility has 191,282 solar modules and can generate 177 GWh of clean electricity annually. This is equivalent to powering more than 48,000 households and cutting CO2 emissions by an impressive 80,528 tonnes yearly..
The solar power plant, developed by the joint company Enery Element, fulfills its goal of providing clean and affordable electricity to businesses operating in Central-Eastern Europe through long-term Power Purchase Agreements. One of the offtakers sourcing green electricity from the Tsenovo solar plant is KCM AD – the leading producer of lead and zinc in Southeastern Europe. The other two offtakers are also major companies and leaders in their respective industries – Orange Romania Group, a telecom, and Dreher Breweries, part of Asahi Europe & International (AEI).
“The Tsenovo Solar Plant represents Enery’s dedication to unlocking the region’s renewable energy potential. This project underlines our mission to supply businesses with cost-competitive clean energy and support them in reducing their carbon footprint. By partnering with companies across various industries, we are making a substantial impact not only on the energy landscape but also on the wider community and environment. “, said Richard Koenig, Chief Executive Officer of Enery.
“This is a major milestone for Enery Element, as we celebrate the commissioning of the biggest project so far developed by our team. We are proud that more than 100 local residents have participated in the construction of the plant, half of them being female”, said Nikola Gazdov, Director of Enery Element. “The Tsenovo solar plant sets a benchmark with regards to sustainability, and we look forward to implementing novel biodiversity enhancement measures together with our partners”, added Gazdov..
By the end of 2023, Bulgaria had a cumulative installed capacity of almost 3,000 MW (3GW) and registered an increase of 1,200 MW (1.2 GW) compared to 2022. The Bulgarian solar power market has been proliferating quickly since 2021, according to the recently published study Bulgaria Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Market Outlook 2024÷2033. For the first time in 2023, Bulgaria entered the group of European countries and installed more than 1 GW of new capacity for one year. Several large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects with a power capacity above 100 MW were launched into commercial operation in Bulgaria between 2021 and 2023. Local and international investors will build new solar projects between 2024 and 2027.
