/10th July 2020, SolarPower Europe/ The RECP is an African-European platform for promoting renewable energy market development and investment in Africa that was initiated in the framework of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP). By promoting market development and investment, it spurs growth on both continents. It contributes directly to the targets of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership, the Sustainable Energy for All initiative, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the Africa Renewable Energy Initiative.
The RECP is currently funded by Austria, Finland, the European Commission, Germany and the Netherlands. It has concluded a number of activities in its start-up phase (accessible through the activity database on this website). It is now in full roll-out with additional funding and a broader portfolio of activities.

The programme is being implemented in a mix of in-country as well as global activities that are structured into four interlinked sub-components:
1) supporting policy advisory;
2) private sector cooperation;
3) access to finance;
4) as well as innovation and skills development.
The RECP offers its “Finance Catalyst” advisory support to project developers on project development, structuring and access to finance (“bankability TA”) to assist them in getting their propositions “read for financing”. In the integrated logic of the RECP, our other services (e.g. market information, match-making and outreach to the private sector) mobilise interest and channel beneficiaries to the Finance Catalyst.
