Renalfa IPP Acquired a 258 MW Solar (PV) Photovoltaic Project in Romania

/VIENNA, January 6, 2025, 9:00 CET, Renalfa IPP/ A 258 MWac (megawatt alternating current) photovoltaic (PV) project in Teleorman, Romania was acquired at the end of 2024 by Renalfa IPP, a Vienna based leader in renewable energy development and investment. This acquisition aligns with Renalfa IPP’s strategic commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The project is also a significant milestone in the expansion of Romania’s renewable energy portfolio. Commercial operation of the Teleorman project is scheduled for 2027. It will contribute to Romania’s decarbonisation goals and the country’s energy security.

In addition to the PV capacity, Renalfa IPP plans to integrate 1000 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets as part of the project’s future development. This advanced energy storage capability will enhance grid stability, optimise renewable energy utilisation, and support the transition to a resilient and sustainable energy system. “We are thrilled to finalise the acquisition of this landmark project in Romania,”said Dr. Nikola Antonov, spokesman of Renalfa IPP. “This project is a testament to our commitment to driving the energy transition in the CEE region and delivering innovative, renewable energy solutions that address the challenges of tomorrow”.

The project highlights Renalfa IPP’s dedication to fostering regional economic growth, creating green jobs, and contributing to a cleaner energy future. By leveraging its expertise and commitment to innovation, Renalfa IPP continues to position itself as a key player in the CEE energy market. Renalfa IPP is a Vienna based developer and independent power producer established as a JV between Renalfa Solarpro Group GmbH and the French infrastructure fund manager RGREEN INVEST. The company owns and develops PV, BESS and wind projects with joint capacity of some 2 GW in Bulgaria, Hungary, North Macedonia and Romania, including about 300 MW already operational, 460 MW in construction and 1 GW in late-stage development.
