Turkey Solar 1 Big

Cumulative installed solar PV capacity in Turkey at the end of 2015 grew up more than 3-fold compared to 2014 and is forecasted to grow significantly in 2016 and the next years. Turkish energy regulator EMRA, granted a 49-year solar generation license at the end of December 2015 to Solentegre Enerji Yatırımları, for solar power plant with 8 MW capacity, which will be built in the eastern province of Elazıg. This licence has been granted after a bidding process held by the regulator. The winning company bid was for TL 827,000 (equal of US$280,000) paid per MW for the license.

Turkey initiated several tenders in 2014 and 2015, when interest from developers was very high, with a total of 9 GW of solar projects being proposed for the 600 MW of tendered capacity that is the national cap as Turkey’s energy strategy sets it.

Phoenix Solar AG, a leading international photovoltaic system integrator listed in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and its partner Asunim Yenilenebilir Enerji Teknolojileri İnş. Müh. San. Tic. Ltd. Şti., a member of the Asunim group, have been jointly awarded an order in January 2016 by a Turkish governmental enterprise to build an array of four photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 4.9 MWp in the Incesu Industrial Zone in Kayseri in central Anatolia region of Turkey.  Phoenix Solar will carry out all engineering and procurement tasks. Asunim was already in charge of the earlier project development and will take on the actual construction, including mounting Jinko polycrystalline solar modules and SMA inverters. The electricity will be sold to the grid. The customer's revenues will be used to develop further the industrial zones aiming at expanding the industry base in the Kayseri region.
