Nickelsdorf PÜSPÖK Group Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant big

/LONDON, July 29, 2024, 9:30 BST, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCHTM/  Puespoek Group, one of the leading companies in the field of renewable energies and one of the largest wind power operators in Austria, has launched a solar PV offensive with its agricultural photovoltaic plant (Agri-PV) Nickelsdorf I. Once completed, the company will generate clean electricity for around 100,000 additional households.

The newly operational 13-hectare agricultural photovoltaic plant (Agri-PV) Nickelsdorf I combines solar power production with agricultural land use. This plant produces clean electricity for 4,300 households and, along with the Heidäcker Mönchhof wind farm, constitutes Puespoek's first hybrid renewable energy power plant. With an output of 14 MWp and over 23,000 state-of-the-art modules, Nickelsdorf I efficiently generates solar power and facilitates the ecological grazing of the land with sheep.

Puespoek Group has already started constructing another large-scale project known as Nickelsdorf II. This project, spanning 53 hectares, will have an output of 68 MWp once completed. The electricity generated by this plant will be able to supply around 23,000 households. Nickelsdorf II is scheduled to be commissioned in 2024.

Another aspect of the solar PV initiative involves incorporating large-scale battery storage into the projects. The first of this kind has already been approved in Nickelsdorf and is expected to commence operations in 2025.

Lukas Puespoek, Managing Director of Puespoek Group, summarizes the solar PV offensive as follows: "The planned expansion by 400 MWp by 2026 is a central part of our expansion plans. The combination of wind power, photovoltaics and battery storage technologies make the Nickelsdorf project a 'super hybrid park' and, thus, a pioneering project in the energy transition in Austria. The simultaneous use of the land for organic farming shows that renewable energies, nature conservation and agriculture harmonize.".
