After in-depth market analysis and identifying the right moment, Econergy entered one of Europe’s most strategic energy markets with two advanced, ready-to-build BESS projects. This move marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to lead the energy transition and scale its impact as a top independent power producer (IPP) in Europe. The two battery energy storage system projects located in Brandenburg have a combined capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh.
The construction of BESS projects is expected to commence this year, with a planned start date before the end of April 2027. According to Econergy, the total project cost is estimated to be approximately €73 million ($84 million).
Econergy announces that it has an energy storage pipeline of 4 GW under development in 15 countries. Before Germany, Econergy entered the BESS market in the UK as a leading player. The company has an existing storage project pipeline under development in the UK of 3.1GW. Econergy is developing co-located BESS projects with solar PV and wind power plants and standalone BESS projects.
Through this transaction, Econergy strengthens its position in the European energy storage market and takes further steps towards a CO₂-neutral energy system. The knowledge and experience gained will be used to develop future projects in other European markets.
