Ignitis Renewables Launched into Commercial Operation a 137 MW Silesia Wind Farm II in Poland

/WARSAW, POLAND, August 25, 2025, 11:00 CET, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCH™/

Ignitis Renewables, a leading international company in the green energy sector, has proudly announced the completion of its latest significant project: the Silesia Wind Farm II. Nestled in the picturesque landscape of southern Poland, in the Opole Voivodeship, this state-of-the-art wind farm has officially commenced commercial operations.

Featuring 38 cutting-edge Nordex N117/3600 wind turbines, Silesia Wind Farm II harnesses the power of the wind with impressive efficiency. Together, these turbines provide a total installed capacity of 137 megawatts (MW), contributing to a sustainable energy future while generating clean, renewable power for the surrounding communities. The total investment in the wind farm, which includes the acquisition price and construction costs, is expected to reach up to EUR 240 million. This project exemplifies Ignitis Renewables’ commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure and combating climate change.

“Silesia wind farm is an important part of our green generation portfolio. Every project of this scale enables us to move towards our strategic priority to deliver 4–5 GW of installed green capacities by 2030. We welcome the consolidation of our operations in Poland, which contributes to the green transformation of the entire region,” says Darius Maikštėnas, Ignitis Group’s CEO.

The Silesia Wind Farm II has the capacity to generate enough electricity to meet the annual needs of approximately 177,000 households. It ranks among the largest wind farms operating in Poland. The successful completion of Silesia Wind Farm II strengthens Ignitis Renewables’ position in Poland and serves as strong evidence of the company’s ongoing commitment to expanding its green energy portfolio. This project is another significant step towards achieving a 100% green and secure energy ecosystem in the region.
