Janom Investments Enters the Croatian Solar Energy Market with a 30 MW Photovoltaic Power Plant Project

/LONDON, April 16, 2025, 9:00, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCH™/

The planned solar power plant in Slavonia, with an installed capacity of 30 MW, is Janom Investments’ first investment in Croatia. It is intended to have a building permit by the end of April 2025. One of the pioneers in the field of climate technology investments in the CEE region, Janom Investments is currently evaluating other wind and photovoltaic power plant projects in Croatia, with an estimated installed capacity of over 200 MW.

This is the first-ever investment in Croatia for Janom Investments, which has several climate technology assets in its portfolio across Europe. “We have been following the potential for the development of renewable energy sources in Croatia for a long time. The investment in the solar plant in Slavonia is our first, but certainly not the last,” says Andrej Sršeň, CEO of Janom Investments.

Currently, according to A. Sršeň, they are already working on the preparation of other wind and photovoltaic projects. “Despite the significant representation of renewable sources in the energy mix, Croatia has a high potential for its further decarbonisation. We would also like to contribute to this with projects in various stages of preparation with an installed capacity of over 200 MW, which will require a total investment of around 300 million euros,” adds A. Sršeň.

Janom Investments, which has been one of the pioneers in climate technology investments in the CEE region since its foundation in Slovakia in 2008, operates several solar and hydropower plants in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The company was also behind the Tyrinselkä and Soidinmäki wind farms with an installed capacity of 70 MW in Finland, which it sold this year to Aquila Capital, a leading German investment company specialising in clean technology and sustainability.

In addition to investments in renewable resources, a significant part of its portfolio is also made up of companies from the field of climate technologies. Janom Investments is one of the founding investors in Greenway, which is the largest operator of charging networks for electric cars in Poland and Slovakia, with more than 2,500 charging points. Its portfolio also includes a stake in the British company Wattstor, which specialises in solutions for the optimisation of energy management and the use of battery storage in several European countries
