/BUCHAREST, ROMANIA, July 23, 2026, 11:00 CEST, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCH™/ Continuing its successful expansion across Southeast Europe’s renewable energy sector, the well-established Bulgarian Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) provider SunEarth Solar Ltd. has officially been awarded with the subcontract and has completed the works subcontracted to it at the Răcari solar photovoltaic plant in Dâmbovița County, Muntenia, Romania: the pile-driving foundation works across the full 30 MW site and the assembly of the fixed mounting structures for 12 MW of the plant’s installed capacity.
The project marks a significant milestone for the company, solidifying its footprint in one of Europe’s fastest-growing green energy markets. Once operational, the facility will generate enough clean electricity to power thousands of homes, significantly contributing to Romania’s national decarbonization targets. The works were carried out under subcontract to ERGOSYNERGY Developments S.R.L., a member of the ERGOSYNERGY group, which is the main construction contractor for the 30 MW plant and will hand over the completed facility in October 2026.
Scope of the Subcontract
SunEarth Solar’s assigned scope comprised the pile-driving works for the plant’s foundations across the full 30 MW site and the assembly of the fixed mounting structures covering 12 MW. The mounting structure components and the project design were supplied by the project owner; SunEarth Solar executed its works to the approved design and within the site management, sequencing and quality framework of the main contractor.
SunEarth Solar, which operates as an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor on photovoltaic and battery storage projects in Bulgaria and the wider region, mobilised its pile-driving equipment and assembly crews to the site for the duration of its scope.
Project Context
The Răcari plant has a total capacity of 30 MW DC and spans more than 30 hectares. Once operational, the plant is expected to generate around 36 GWh of clean electricity per year — enough to supply roughly 14,000 households annually and to offset an estimated 12,700 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.
Working Through a Difficult Spring
The construction programme coincided with an exceptionally wet spring in Dâmbovița County. Repeated rainfall affected ground conditions, site access and internal haul routes, and required both companies to adapt the sequence of works, reinforce access roads and reorganise crews and equipment at short notice in order to protect the overall programme.

This spring tested everyone on site — the rainfall was well above what any of us had planned for, and there were days when the ground simply did not allow us to work as scheduled. What made the difference was that we dealt with these situations together with the main contractor rather than separately: solutions were found on site, quickly and in good faith. We are pleased to have delivered our scope and to have contributed to a project that will support Romania’s energy transition.”
Mr. Valeri Ivanov, the Project Manager of SunEarth Solar, added: “Every utility-scale site brings its own geological and logistical conditions, and Răcari was no exception. The wet period required continuous adjustment of our pile-driving sequence and of our access arrangements, and this was only possible because coordination with ERGOSYNERGY’s site management was open and practical throughout. The plant uses a fixed-tilt mounting system, which offers the structural reliability and low maintenance requirements suited to a project of this size. Our focus was on installation accuracy and on keeping our works aligned with the main contractor’s overall construction programme.”

“ERGOSYNERGY is delivering Răcari as main construction contractor, with the design and the equipment provided by the project owner. What makes this particular plant stand out is that it does not stand alone: it forms part of, and is the continuation of, the NAVIOS project. NAVIOS comprises two dispatchable 20 MW gas power plants, each complemented by a 6 MW/6 MWh battery system supporting the start-up and operation of the gas engines, while a separate 40 MW/160 MWh battery energy storage system will work together with the 30 MW photovoltaic plant. Taken as a whole, the complex constitutes the most significant grid-stabilising asset in the Bucharest region, and the photovoltaic plant is an integral part of that concept.
A project of this scale depends on the specialist teams on site, and this spring put that to the test: the rainfall we faced was exceptional and it affected access, ground conditions and sequencing across the whole site. SunEarth Solar carried out the pile driving across the site and the mounting structure assembly for 12 MW of the plant, and I want to acknowledge that their crews stayed on site through the difficult weeks and worked with us to find practical solutions rather than to assign blame. That cooperation is the reason the programme held. We remain on track to hand over the completed plant in October 2026.”
