/RIGA, LATVIA, September 22, 2025, 11:00 CET, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCH™/ The 72.5 megawatt (MW) Stelpe Solar Farm II, developed by Ignitis Renewables, an international green energy company, has officially commenced commercial operations. Situated in the southern region of Latvia, within the Bauska municipality, the solar farm spans 85 hectares and is equipped with 121,000 solar panels.
The total investment in this project, encompassing acquisition and construction expenses, amounts to approximately EUR 54 million. Stelpe Solar Farm II is part of a larger Stelpe Solar project, which includes two sites, each boasting a capacity of 72.5 MW. Together, these sites have a combined installed capacity of 145 MW, expected to meet the electricity needs of around 70,000 households.
Ignitis Renewables is actively pursuing further renewable energy projects in Latvia. This year, in addition to Stelpe Solar Farm II, the company has also initiated operations at the 94 MW Varme Solar Farm, while the development of the 174 MW Tume Solar Farm is progressing as planned. Collectively, these solar farms represent an installed capacity exceeding 400 MW, sufficient to supply electricity to nearly 200,000 households.
The company is committed to expanding its activities through collaboration with local municipalities and communities and is engaged in various social support initiatives in Latvia. Ignitis Renewables prioritises adherence to strict environmental standards in its projects, aligning with a broader strategy aimed at fostering a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable energy ecosystem in the Baltic region.
