/RIGA, LATVIA, August 21, 2025, 11:30 CET, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCH™/ The transformer is the central component of Tume Solar Park, ensuring efficient energy conversion for transmission into the high-voltage grid.
Ignitis Renewables achieved a major milestone with the 174 MW Tume Solar Park by successfully delivering and installing a 30/330 kV high-voltage transformer. The transformer is manufactured by BEST Transformer. It was transported from Ventspils port to the site by Ursus Forwarding. The unloading and assembly were handled by ELKO SIA, the general contractor for the substation, with technical support and supervision provided by the manufacturer’s team. Construction of the Tume Solar Park is progressing rapidly, aiming to deliver the first megawatts to the grid by 2026.
Ignitis Renewables plans to invest up to EUR 106 million in a development in this solar park that will be one of the largest of its kind in the Baltics. This project will be the third solar initiative by Ignitis Renewables in Latvia, reflecting the company’s dedication to promoting a greener and more sustainable future in the region.

The Tume solar park will be situated in the Tume parish of Tukums municipality. The project aims for a total capacity of 174 MW, which is sufficient to supply electricity to approximately 85,000 households each year. This will be the first project by Ignitis Renewables to utilise tracker technology, which automatically follows the sun’s movement. This technology enhances the production efficiency of the solar panels, resulting in increased electricity generation.
