/LONDON, July 3, 2026, 9:30 BST, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCH™/ Matrix Renewables, a leading renewable energy platform backed by TPG Rise, has recently inaugurated Adelfa Solar—a 50 MW solar photovoltaic power plant strategically located in Paredes de Nava, Province of Palencia, Castilla y León, Spain. The launch event convened Matrix Renewables’ executive leadership alongside regional and local government officials, landowners, community partners, and key project stakeholders, underscoring the collaborative effort and strategic significance of this milestone in the company’s Spanish portfolio.
Adelfa Solar represents the final phase in a cluster of five 50 MW photovoltaic plants—Adelfa, Almendro, Baluarte, Bombarda, and Retama—developed by Matrix Renewables in Palencia. This integrated portfolio delivers a combined installed capacity of 250 MW, backed by a total regional investment of €227 million. The cluster exemplifies Matrix Renewables’ long-term commitment to the economic and environmental advancement of Palencia, aligning with Castilla y León’s status as a strategic hub for large-scale renewable energy deployment in Spain.
Looking forward, Matrix Renewables is pursuing the integration of co-located battery storage and hybridisation with onshore wind resources, aiming to deliver flexible, 24/7 renewable energy solutions to the Spanish grid. This proactive strategy demonstrates the company’s dedication to advancing grid resilience, optimising asset performance, and ensuring long-term value creation for both regional stakeholders and the broader Spanish energy market. For his part, Luis Calderón, Mayor of Paredes de Nava, stated: “The inauguration of this plant marks the beginning of a collaboration with Matrix Renewables that we are confident will create new opportunities for our municipality. We must now establish the necessary mechanisms to ensure that part of the value generated by this energy has a positive impact on the territory where it is produced.”
Matrix Renewables considers community engagement and social impact integral to its business model. In Palencia, these values are realised through a comprehensive social responsibility program embedded within the five-plant portfolio. Initiatives include the “Building the Future” program, developed in collaboration with local secondary schools, which educates students on solar technology, environmental sustainability, and the green economy. Additionally, in partnership with Fundación Talento 58, Matrix Renewables has implemented targeted training programs to increase employability among individuals at risk of social exclusion, providing pathways to long-term employment and fostering local workforce development during the construction phase of the cluster.
Beyond providing clean energy infrastructure, the five Palencia plants are designed to deliver quantifiable environmental benefits for their host communities. Matrix Renewables is piloting innovative initiatives at these sites, such as biodiversity monitoring and regenerative grazing, to promote ecosystem health and sustainable land management. These efforts are integral to the company’s comprehensive ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy, reinforcing the principle that the energy transition must be accompanied by robust environmental stewardship.
Spain remains a core strategic market for Matrix Renewables, which currently operates 691 MW of solar power generation capacity nationwide and maintains a robust pipeline of projects under construction and development across multiple technologies, including battery storage, onshore wind, and green hydrogen. The Palencia cluster serves as a flagship example of the company’s holistic and forward-thinking approach to renewable energy development in Spain.
