/BUCHAREST, December 20, 2025, 10:30 CET, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCH™/ OX2 has successfully acquired three significant onshore wind power projects in Romania, with a combined capacity of 235 megawatts (MW), from Future Power. These projects are strategically located in the counties of Vaslui and Vrancea, regions recognised for their favourable wind conditions.
This acquisition marks a substantial expansion of OX2’s presence in Romania, bringing its total renewable energy portfolio in the country to over 1.1 gigawatts (GW). This growth solidifies OX2’s position as a key player in one of Europe’s most rapidly expanding renewable energy markets.
The commissioning of these three wind projects is expected to occur between 2028 and 2030, pending the necessary permitting approvals. In addition to these new acquisitions, OX2 is actively developing further wind power projects in regions known for their robust wind resources. These include the coastal and eastern counties of Constanța, Brăila, and Galați, where the company aims to enhance its renewable energy capabilities and contribute to Romania’s transition towards sustainable energy solutions.
“The transaction with Future Power marks another step forward in OX2’s business development strategy in Romania. We continue to grow by developing solid, bankable projects with clear commissioning timelines, which will attract new investors to Romania,” says Lăcrămioara Diaconu-Pințea, Vice President and Country Manager of OX2 Romania.
OX2’s renewable energy portfolio in Romania is robust and diverse, featuring nine onshore wind projects currently under construction, collectively totalling 195 MW. Additionally, the company is actively developing an extensive pipeline of wind projects totalling 766 MW. Beyond wind energy, OX2 is also engaged in solar initiatives and battery energy storage systems (BESS), contributing an additional 150 MW to its renewable energy mix. In terms of strategic growth, OX2 successfully completed notable transactions in 2024 and 2025, partnering with Nala Renewables to acquire 99 MW of wind capacity and with HELLENiQ Renewables to secure 96 MW, further enhancing its presence in the Romanian renewable energy sector.
