Climate and energy security policies in almost 140 countries have played a crucial role in making renewable energy cost-competitive with fossil fuel power plants. This shift is generating new demand from the private sector and households. Additionally, industrial policies that promote local manufacturing of solar panels and wind turbines are helping to develop domestic markets.
