We’re Heading Next Week to Amsterdam for the Future of Utilities: Energy Transition Summit

/LONDON, March 12, 2026, 10:00 GMT, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCH™/ Renewable Market Watch will be at this year’s Future of Utilities: Energy Transition Summit on 18-19 March in Amsterdam.

The full programme is now confirmed, and for anyone tracking European renewable energy markets, the speaker and attendee list is worth looking at closely. On generation and investment, Nancy Wang of Octopus Energy Generation opens the financing session on Day 1, examining where power generation economics are heading. She’s joined by Mehmet Energin, Chief Investment Officer at OX2, and Michiel Van Beek, Head of Energy Investments at Triodos Investment Management, for a dedicated panel on unlocking capital for low-carbon infrastructure – covering financing mechanisms, risk reduction strategies, corporate PPAs, and how financing needs will evolve as technologies mature. Jakob Pilegaard Hansen, Senior Vice President at the Export & Investment Fund of Denmark, also takes part.

In the room across both days: senior teams from Orsted, Statkraft, Equinor, RWE, TotalEnergies, Fortum, Lightsource BP, EDF Renewables, Scatec, and Vestas, alongside developers, portfolio managers, and origination leads from across the European market. The Global Solar Council’s Director of EMEIA & Americas, Lennart van Walsum, delivers a dedicated keynote on what solar deployment actually needs from grid operators right now – grid connection timelines, capacity constraints, and the infrastructure gap.

The Innovation Stage is worth flagging specifically. Running across both days, it brings together early-stage and growth-stage companies pitching directly to a room of 50+ active investors and corporate development teams. Confirmed participants include Tilt Energy, Powernaut, Second Life Battery Services, HivePower, GridIO, Synergi, Exnaton, and Podero – spanning grid flexibility software, second-life battery storage, demand response, and energy community platforms. Megan Cain of The Westly Group hosts a dedicated fireside on what VCs are actually funding in energy tech right now.

1,600+ attendees. 130+ speakers. 38% C-level. 54% energy companies.

Future of Utilities Summit

Grid connection and network readiness is a major thread across both days, with sessions featuring National Grid, SSEN Transmission, EirGrid, RTE, and Statkraft covering how transmission infrastructure is being planned and prioritised for new renewable capacity, and where the bottlenecks are slowing deployment.

Storage and flexibility get serious airtime too. There’s a full panel on accelerating BESS buildout, covering user adoption, V2X potential, thermal storage, non-lithium technologies, and the storage-as-a-service model. Michael Lippert of Saft and David Oudsandji, CEO of Voltfang, are among the confirmed speakers, with Hein Oomen of ENGIE also on the panel. The corporate PPA market features across the trading and generation tracks, with dedicated discussion on hedging in volatile markets, weather derivatives, and long-term PPA structures – featuring EDP, ENGIE, and TotalEnergies heads of trading and origination.
