/10th September 2013, TengriNews/ Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has suggested working out an effective system to manage the country’s hydrocarbons riches, Tengrinews.kz reports. “We need an effective system to manage the hydrocarbons wealth; natural riches should feed economic growth; however, they should no longer be the major source of revenues for the state. That is the key objective of the Government”, President said when speaking at the Eurasia Emerging Markets Forum in Astana September 10.

Securum Equity Partners cancels 1 GW Serbian PV project, sues Serbian government

/14th August 2013, Photon Magazine/ Luxembourg-based investment firm Securum Equity Partners & Associates plans to sue the Republic of Serbia for failing to provide Securum with the appropriate land for the construction of a 1 GW PV project the company was to develop in Serbia. According to the lawsuit, which will be filed shortly in the International Court of Arbitration of London, Securum is seeking compensation totalling €160 million ($213.7 million).

UK gives consent for two major wind energy projects

/7th July 2013, EVWIND / Secretary of State, Edward Davey announced RWE’s 1.2 GW Triton Knoll offshore wind project and Vattenfall’s 228 MW Pen y Cymoedd onshore wind farm have been given the go-ahead for development. The government has approved RWE Innogy’s 1,200 megawatt Triton Knoll offshore wind farm, a project with capacity comparable to that of a large nuclear power plant.
