/21st February 2014, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCHTM/ Between 2009 and 2012, Bulgaria has become one of the fastest-growing wind markets in SEE region with cumulative wind installed capacity of 674 MW by the end of 2012. Currently, the feed-in tariff is fixed for 20 years for biomass and solar projects and 12 years for wind projects at the signing of PPA.

/9th January 2014, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCHTM/ Serbia has an average of about 272 sunny days and about 2,300 sunny hours, which is more than the European average. Annually, the average value of the overall sun radiation for the Republic of Serbia territory ranges from 1,200 kWh/m2/a year in northwest Serbia to 1,550 kWh/m2/a year in southeast Serbia. In comparison, in the middle part, it is about 1,400 kWh/m2/a year.

/19th December 2013, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCHTM/ In Albania, solar power is widely available, but the photovoltaic market in the country is not yet developed. Most of all, Albania's electricity is renewable and comes from hydropower. The only program incentivizing solar energy was intended for solar thermal generation.

/11th November 2013, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCHTM/ Azerbaijan has good renewable energy resources. The wind, which blows more than 250 days per year and may generate 2.4 billion kWh of electricity annually, is the country’s preferred option because of its lower cost, environmental soundness and unlimited availability. There is a great potential to use wind energy, particularly on the coastline and offshore, which is now recognized in official circles.

/24th October 2013, RENEWABLE MARKET WATCHTM/ Hungary has good potential for using solar energy, as the number of sunny hours in Hungary is between 1,950-2,150 hours per year at an intensity of 1,200 kWh/m2 per year. However, the Hungarian photovoltaic market is not developed. At the end of 2012, the solar PV market in Hungary has 6 MW cumulative installed capacity.

Because power will be increasingly generated from renewable energy sources in the future, it is necessary to move towards a so-called "Internet of Energy" model. This model is based on principles of smart power generation, smart power grids, smart storage, and smart consumption. Information and communication-based technologies (ICT) will play a central role in connecting the different parts of the energy system.

/10th September 2013, TengriNews/ Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has suggested working out an effective system to manage the country’s hydrocarbons riches, Tengrinews.kz reports. “We need an effective system to manage the hydrocarbons wealth; natural riches should feed economic growth; however, they should no longer be the major source of revenues for the state. That is the key objective of the Government”, President said when speaking at the Eurasia Emerging Markets Forum in Astana September 10.

/14th August 2013, Photon Magazine/ Luxembourg-based investment firm Securum Equity Partners & Associates plans to sue the Republic of Serbia for failing to provide Securum with the appropriate land for the construction of a 1 GW PV project the company was to develop in Serbia. According to the lawsuit, which will be filed shortly in the International Court of Arbitration of London, Securum is seeking compensation totalling €160 million ($213.7 million).

/9th August 2013, Chris Goodall/ The latest data on US wind power provides some extraordinary statistics. During 2012 about 13 gigawatts of new capacity was installed, almost twice the UK’s total wind power. This provided about 43% of the net additions to US generating plant.
